Thanks to your generous donations, Power Paws Assistance Dogs was one of the top five charities at this year’s Birdies for Charities event at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.  We were there on Saturday with volunteers and a kissing booth for our dogs.  The public enjoyed meeting the dogs and we enjoyed explaining our mission to the attendees.

Volunteers: The heart of the community


All volunteers must attend a volunteer orientation.  Orientation is held on the first Saturday of each month at 12 noon.  Our training facility is located near the General Dynamics plant at Hayden Rd. & McDowell in Scottsdale.  See the map in the upper right corner to get directions from your ho

Quail, a highly trained English Labrador retriever, isn’t just a 15-year-old boy’s best friend.
The Diabetic Alert Dog also is Christian Poorten’s lifeline.
She demonstrated that about a week ago by sensing that Christian’s blood sugar was dangerously low and awakening him from a sound sleep.
“I love her like she’s another human, probably like a sister,” said Christian, a freshman basketball player at Paradise Valley High School.

TEMPE, AZ – US Airways added a new chapter to their ‘Puppies in Flight’ program Tuesday.
Volunteers accompanied assistance dogs on their first flight at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
The assistance dogs are completing their training at Power Paws Assistance Dogs, Inc., a local nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering adults and children with disabilities for greater independence.
The latest recruits are Smitty the Golden Labrador and Rusty the Labrador Retriever.
